Abstract: The Cambrian life explosion has always been a hotspot in international research. As one of the indispensable regions for global geological events and geological evolution, the basic geological research of the Cambrian in the Ordos Basin has yet to be deepened, and the oil and gas exploration in this layer has yet to be breakthrough. In order to further enrich the basic geological data in this area, this study selected 9 field profiles of the Middle Cambrian Xuzhuang Formation in the periphery of the Ordos Basin. A total of 192 rock samples were systematically sampled, sliced, and identified. The rock types are complete, including Terrestrial clastic rocks, carbonate rocks, mixed rocks etc. This dataset shows in detail the mineral composition and content of the rock slices of the Xuzhuang Formation, structural structure, observation and description of biological fossils, and diagenesis, and provides systematic polarized photomicrographs. It can not only provide data support for basic Cambrian geological research in the world, but also provide basic geological data references for oil and gas exploration of the Middle Cambrian strata in the Ordos Basin.
