CUI Chenzhou (Ph.D.) is Professor and Director of the Information and Computing Center at National Astronomical Observatories, CAS. He is also Deputy Director of the Joint Astronomical Information Technology Laboratory, Tianjin University, Executive Member of the International Virtual Observatory Alliance, and Deputy Director of the Popularization Committee of Chinese Astronomical Society. Prof. CUI sits on the Astronomical Terminology Committee of Chinese Astronomical Society, Editorial Boards of IVOA Newsletter, Astronomical Research & Technology, and Big Data. He is also on Worldwide Telescope (WWT) Advisory Board, American Astronomical Society, Worldwide Telescope Academic Program, and Microsoft Research Advisory Board.
Prof. CUI’s research areas include astro-informatics, virtual observatory, data-based education and public outreach, cloud computing, big data, grid technology, astronomical databases, astronomical data center, data processing and analysis, galactic structure and evolution, and stellar abundance. He chaired projects or websites including Virtual Astronomical Observatory of China, Astronomical Science Cloud (AstroCloud), China Astronomical Data Center, LAMOST Big Science Project, Information and Computing Center of National Astronomical Observatories, Astronomical Terminologies, WWT China Community of Microsoft, Joint Live Broadcast of Total Solar Eclipse for the International Year of Astronomy (2009), and CosmoStation. Prof. CUI’s awards include Outstanding Contributor by Chinese Astronomical Society, Individual of Excellence by China National Committee for Terminology in Sciences and Technologies, S&T Star by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Astronomical Education Award by Chinese Astronomical Society, Astronomical Education Award by Beijing Astronomical Society, among others.
