ZHANG Yuan is Professor and Deputy Director at the Water Environment Research Center, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, and an Adjunct Professor and PhD Supervisor at Beijing Normal University. Prof. ZHANG is a member of the Standing Committee of the Water Environment Sub-committee of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, a member of the Environmental and Ecological Toxicology Committee of Chinese Society of Toxicology, and Vice Head of the Monitoring and Early Warning Team of National Major S&T Water Program. Prof. ZHANG’s area of expertise centers around water environmental sciences and engineering. In recent years, he has chaired over 10 projects including “Program 973” projects, Major S&T Special Projects, “National Natural Science Foundation” general projects and international collaborative projects. He has published or contributed to four monographs, four patents and 194 scholarly articles, among which over 70 appeared in SCI-cited journals like EST, Water Res., Chemosphere, etc. Prof. ZHANG’s major prizes include: first prize in the Ministry of Education S&T Progress Awards, first prize in the Ministry of Education Natural Science Awards, second prize in the Ministry of Environmental Protection S&T Progress Awards, and second prize in the S&T Progress of Liaoning Province. He holds prestigious titles like “Young and Middle-aged Leading Talent in S&T Innovation” (awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology) and “May 4th Youth Medal of China State Organs”.
