GAO Lizhi is Professor, PhD Supervisor and Distinguished Fellow at Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prof. GAO serves as Associate Editor of BMC Evolutionary Biology and sits on the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Plant Science. He has been a regular reviewer for international journals like Nature, Science, PNAS, Genome Research, Genome Biology and BMC Genomics.Prof. GAO’s research areas include genomics, bioinformatics, evolutionary biology, population genetics, conservation biology and germplasm resources. He has published over 70 articles in international journals including Science, PNAS, Trends in Genetics, Genome Biology, Plant Physiology, Genetics, Molecular Ecology and Theoretical and Applied Genetics. He is an elected member of the CAS 100-Talent Program, of the first “High-level S&T Talents Introduction Program of Yunnan Province”, of “100 Overseas High-level Talent Introduction Program”, and of Young and Middle-aged Leading Talents for S&T Innovation as part of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Advancement Program, as well as a national-level candidate of the New Century Hundred & Thousand Talent Program. Prof. GAO received an honorary research fund from International Foundation for Science (Sweden) and a S&T innovation award from the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. He was awarded Vavilov–Frankel Fellow by the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
