Abstract: Gongga Mountain is located in the transition zone between the Sichuan Basin and Tibetan Plateau. Abies fabri Craib is an endemic and dominant species in typical subalpine dark coniferous forests, in Gongga Mountain. Scientific and standardized survey and monitoring can be used to obtain soil structure and elements, which is of great significance for revealing soil quality and improving databases for the forest ecosystem process model. As a part of Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) and National Ecosystem Research Network of China (CNERN), Gongga Station is a comprehensive experimental and observation platform integrating sub-alpine ecology, soil, hydrology, climate and glacier. According to the protocols for standard soil observation and measurement of CERN, the station has been carrying out long-term soil monitoring. This dataset collected and processed 31 indexes of A. fabri soil (0–10、10–20、20–40、40–60、60–100 cm) from 2005 to 2015. Its aim is to provide the basic data for the biogeochemical process of air-water-soil-plant systems, which is a theoretical basis for mountain ecological safety and ecological restoration.

Geographical location: 101°59'E,29°34N. The dataset was derived from long-term monitoring plots at Gongga station, which included the comprehensive long-term monitoring plot of mature A. fabri forest at Guanjing field, and middle age A. fabri forest at Gan Heba station area.

Dataset compositionThe dataset consists of the following six tables:1. soil elements table, records the long-term locating and monitoring data of 29 soil elements indicators (includes organic matter, total N, P, K, SiO2, Fe2O3, MnO, TiO2, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, K2O, Na2O, P2O5、LOI, S, B, Mo, Mn, Zn, Cu, Fe, Se, Cd, Pb, Cr, Ni, Hg, As), containing 90 entries. 2. Soil structure table, records soil bulk density and mechanical composition, containing 60 entries. 3. Soil environment survey table, records field information and soil profile characteristics, containing 10 entries. 4. Soil sampling and preservation table, records the methods of soil sampling and preservation, containing 6 data entries. 5. Analysis method table, records the laboratory analysis method for the properties of each soil indicators, containing 70 data entries. 6. sampling rate table, records the sampling rate for the properties of each soil indicators, containing 66 data entries.
